It's so hard to believe my little guy is approaching his first birthday.

Here he is reading one of his favorite books, Brown Bear, Brown Bear. He has become very interested in what is in our kitchen cabinets and drawers. This bottom drawer was once the home to our foil and plastic wrap. I was afraid he'd cut himself on the cutting edge, so I made this his special drawer. I plan to change the contents from time to time. Right now it has some of his toys and a book and a few kitchen items. He already knows this is his drawer and will sit there and play for as long as we'll let him.
Owen is an OK, and by OK I mean OK napper. He will take 2 30-45 minute naps on most days. Usually around 9:30am and 2:30 pm, but here lately he has decided to change it up on me.

He must have been sleeping hard here. Look how sweaty his hair is...
Bath time is probably one of our favorite times. The hard part, however, is getting him dressed afterwards. We have found if we give him his lotion bottle to play with we can get him dressed a little quicker. It still takes a good 15 minutes.

Other things the little fella has been up to...

- went to IOP and Wilmington
- had his first babysitter (his gramma Karen)
- has also stayed with our neighbor Amy and his Nana and Bobo
- started Kindermusik (and LOVES it)
- plays peek-a-boo behind our curtains and comforter
- loves to play with our empty boxes and cartons
- absolutely LOVES ducks. He recognizes them in his books, on fabric and the ones in his bath. He calls them DUKES.
-
has to close all the doors... completely!
- plays a good came of hide-and-seek/chase. He has become very clever with this game!
- 9/22 he stood all by himself
- is cutting his top 4 teeth ALL at the same time
- likes to pull the trash can over
-pulls EVERYTHING off his changing table
- does not like pillows on our rattan chair...it's a constant game to pull them off and throw them every time we put them back in the chair.
- can climb his baby gate and pack-n-play
-climbs up on our bath tub--SCARY!
- can go up the stairs to Danny's man cave... VERY SCARY!
- loves Cheerios and Puffs
- plays the drums on EVERYTHING. He really has rhythm and the folks in Kindermusik can't believe it.
- gives lots of hugs and kisses. They are really sweet!
- has started doing this hissing thing
-will imitate us and doing silly thing (like playing dead bug) and making silly noises
- wants to eat everything we are eating
- likes to play in the dogs water bowls and in the bathrooms
- still LOVES books, sometimes more so than his other toys.
-stands up and looks out the windows and doors
- beats on the window sill and glass to hear the different sounds
-is very interested in textures. Especially touch and feel books.
- has taken his first steps
- still enjoys going for walks with me. He's very nosy and will stare at our neighbors.
- loves, loves chasing the dogs. We have even noticed his voice has a different pitch when he's playing with the dogs.
- likes to play airplane
- recognizes family and himself in pictures
-likes to look at himself in the mirror
- laughs ALL the time. He has this open mouth- dry laugh.
- Loves going to the store and out to eat. He is always the hit of everywhere we go. Laughing, smiling and waving. People just love his big eyes and sweet personality.
No complaints here!

Awesome photos! I always love reading these updates - it's neat to read how much alike our 2 are! We have a 'tupperware' cupboard for Helayna that she loves to play in. She big into playing with all the lids.
Wish we could come and hang out - I think Owen and Helayna would have a ball together!

I LOVE that he calls Ducks, DUKES! He must be a duke fan like us :) Steven will love that!! Too cute that he has a drawer... reading all of those things makes me sad b/c he is growing up and anxious that we have all of that right around the corner DOUBLE!

I just love reading what Owen's been up to! The picture of him after nap time is soooo cute. Makes me miss(almost) my "baby" at that age. It's hard to believe she'll be 4 in two days :(

Anna loves ducks too.
Starting a drawer for Owen is such a great idea...I may need to steal that one :)
