Owen's "hot tub"

Owen seemed to be feeling better today, so I decided to treat him to a spa like bubble bath followed by a Burt's Bees baby oil massage. After a long evening snack, he is now sleeping like a log.

did you know?

I was tagged by my friend Bob to create a list of 10 unique or interesting facts about myself that others may not know. I'm not sure if there are 10 or if they are unique, but here I go....

1. I have been a vegetarian for over 1/2 my life. I don't eat meat or fish, but I do eat dairy.

2. Speaking of food, I also don't eat onions, mushrooms, olives, tofu, eggplant, eggs (other than "hidden" eggs---one's that are cooked in something), cilantro, parsley or basil. I have issues with texture; not into spongy foods.

3. I like to be organized. I tend to arrange items in the cabinets and closets according to color (lightest to darkest) and by size (shortest to tallest).

4. I get excited about cleaning supplies and cleaning machines. My favorites are my Little Green Cleaning Machine, Dyson Vacuum and Swiffer. They all seem to make my life easier. This is so ironic considering I got fired from Papa's Pizza in HS for not moping the floors good enough.

5. Speaking of getting canned, I got fired from Wade Hampton Golf Club for going on tour with Phish.

6. I get up all through the night and check the doors to make sure they are locked. I also look out all the windows to check for lurkers.

7. I drove a 1971 VW Bus my sophomore year of college. Trying to get up Black Mountain was quite the feat. I often felt it was going to roll backwards down the mtn. It's a bit scary when you are getting passed by the semi-trucks.

8. I can smell toilet water, I swear.

9. I get dressed in the closet. I can also change my entire outfit without ever showing skin (like we did in middle school gym class...but I still do it).

10. I can put both legs behind my head at the same time and I can put my entire fist in my mouth. Interesting party conversation....

11. My husband, Danny, is two years younger than me. I always joke that I picked him young so I could train him to be the perfect man. I would say it's been 99.9% effective.

12. I fell while dancing with Danny at our wedding. I won't go into the details since most of you witnessed the event.

a week of firsts...

I have become so interested in reading the blogs of others that I decided to start one of my own. I hope to be able to journal about the happenings in the lives of Danny, Owen and myself. Not that we live a very exciting life, but I feel that each day our little family spends together we grow stronger and stronger and I want to try and capture all the memories we make.

So, not only is this my first blog, but also a very exciting
week of firsts at our house. This week Owen (who is now 4 months 3 weeks) rolled over from back-to-front, has started to "Army Crawl" in circles, his mouth has discovered his feet, he took his first nap in his crib (he still sleeps in our room), he took his first bottle (he has been sick and is having a hard time nursing since he can't breathe through his nose). Owen has also started blowing bubbles and doing this cute little thing where he sucks his bottom lip in and makes a popping sound.

Danny is doing well. He has started working out again and is getting nice and buff for his wife; who lives in sweats and smells like vomit and spoiled milk.

As for me, not much is going on. I still get very little sleep and I am doing good to get a shower and remember to brush my teeth. Aw, life as a mommy. I must say, it's all worth it!!!! I have been getting out and going for walks with Owen. I am really looking forward to spending this spring and summer outside with our little guy.
